Alway a pleasure when your breakfast is complimentary with your stay. When the booking's been in the system, since November, you forget that detail.
There is one huge change to the airport surrounds.
Port Denarau is a bit like sanctary cove. An exclusive police guarded island that encompasses the marina, golf course, posher houses and umpteen 5 star hotels.
Over the course of the day, Paul and I explored the marina.... Souvenirs galore.
He added to his wardrobe. Damn, the prize for first purchase goes to him.
Morning tea was watching the busy wharf where the cruise ships left from. Mango granitas all round.
Sadly we never took the Bula bus that does the rounds of the resort for $8.50 per person, hop on and off all day.
We decided to brave the local bus at a dollar a piece. Funnily enough it took us on a drive around the resorts as well, but was carrying the workers for the hotels.
Forget about going to Nandi. It's dirty and boring, shop wise. Pressure selling and enticing you into 'their uncle's shop.
We did enjoy the village markets though. Bunches of taro, piles of chili, eggplants, pineapples. Anyhing the native fijians can grow in their back yard and sell.
The kava section was mindblowing. It looked like too many of the sellers had used the substance just that little bit often.
We raced back to the 'resort kingdom' to do a final inspection of the Westin sofitel where Dave Jen and Colton will be staying. Oh it's ok!..... If you like water frontage and multiple pools and 3 bars to cater to your growing cocktail habit.
This was my view from my couch when i was having a little lie down in the foyer.
...because tonight we'll be sleeping on the fiji jumbo.
